Environmental Activities

We have lived, worked and played in some of the world’s most stunning wilderness environments all our lives and we are absolutely passionate about protecting these precious and yet threatened resources. We support many environmental initiatives and more details can be found on our Environment page, but for over a decade a big focus has also been our Peak District National Park litter collection initiatives.

For many years we’ve joined the Peak Park Conservation Volunteers to run our now famous Pick & Play event. This annual FREE event, which combines litter collection activities with outdoor activities, has grown to epic proportions and we welcome everyone to get involved. You can find out more via the link below.

An offshoot of the main Pick & Play is the Pick & Play Summer Tour. We trialled this in 2019 and it was such a great success that it now has a firm place on our calendar. The Summer Tour events, which are smaller scale versions of our main event, invites participants for a summer evening of litter collection combined with an outdoor activity. Numbers for these events are limited and, thanks to our generous sponsors, are also free to participants.

Finally, we have also included information below on our litter collection equipment loan scheme. We invite both locals and visitors to the Peak District to combine their visit with a bit of litter collection time. We have sets of litter grabbers and gloves available free of charge and we hope, if enough people do a little collecting as part of their visit, we’ll all make a huge difference to the significant litter problem we face.

We are always keen to talk to individuals, organisations or groups with other good ideas on ways we can protect our precious special places. Do get in touch and we’ll see what we can do.
