The Great Ridges of Scotland

Gill and Andy had their eyes set on some of the great ridges of Scotland but were more comfortable to be guided rather than go it alone. We put together the perfect roadtrip, saddled up and headed north.

Description

Scotland is a treasure trove of mountaineering objectives. We cut our own teeth on routes like Pinnacle Ridge, the Skye Ridge, the Aonach Eagach and the stunning lines on the North Face of Ben Nevis. There is a lifetime of amazing lines.

Gill and Andy wanted a piece of the action and we were delighted to oblige. We took into account their experience levels and discussed their dream ridge line tick list. We got busy making excited plans. Like all mountain trips to Scotland it is important to have alternative plans in mind and so we added some plan B’s, C’s and D’s.

In the lead up to the trip we had a couple of training days in the Peak District and eventually it was time to turn the couple’s dreams into reality. Over 5 glorious days we managed to ascend Curved Ridge in Glencoe, the Aonach Eagach ridge, Tower Ridge on Ben Nevis and the Forcan Ridge Sgurr na Sgine in Glen Shiel. Yes, we did have a rest day in the middle – but they were on holiday!

It was a magical trip and we absolutely loved sharing this special trip with them. The only thing we didn’t know in advance was when, mid way along the Aonach Eagach ridge, Andy dropped to one knee and pulled a ring from his pocket. Our sincere congratulations to them both (she said yes!!).
